The interpretation of your astrology chart begins on the following page.
You will find that the interpretation of your
chart is written in simple language, uncluttered by astrological
jargon. If a statement appears to contradict another statement, then
you exhibit these opposite qualities at different times in your life.
For example, a statement that you are highly sociable and gregarious
and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly contradict each
other; this means that you vacillate, and need both sociability and
solitude at different times.
The astrological factor that the interpretation
is based on is also given. The astrological factor is given for the
benefit of astrologers and students of astrology. If you are not a
student of astrology, then obviously the factor will not be meaningful
to you, and you can ignore it.
If you find this interpretation of your birth
chart interesting and informative, you might want to discuss your birth
chart with a professional astrologer to learn more about the
astrological influences on your life.

Chapter 1: General Characteristics
Your
fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards life are symbolized
by the four astrological elements. Each person has their own unique
balance of these four basic energies: fire (warmth, inspiration,
enthusiasm), earth (practicality, realism, material interests), air
(social and intellectual qualities), and water (emotional needs and
feelings).
Your "elemental make-up" is described below.
Remember that most people are "unbalanced" or lopsided, and if you are
lacking or deficient in a certain element (or elements), it simply
means that you need to consciously develop that aspect of yourself to
learn to appreciate and/or to work harder in that dimension of life.
Sometimes we overvalue the element that we are
least endowed with, sensing it as a lack within ourselves, but more
often we neglect or ignore it. The qualities described below will be
reiterated and explained in more detail in the following chapters.
Your life is apt to be full of emotional
extremes, turbulence, joy and sorrow, arising out of your own
passionate nature and unpredictability. You are impulsive and
temperamental. For you, everything is intensely personal and colored by
emotion. You may have difficulty viewing a situation from a detached,
impartial or rational perspective, and you have little inclination to
structure and order your life. However, developing self-discipline,
organization, and focus is essential. Otherwise you will be prone to
tremendous moodiness, alternating between high inspiration and
despondency.
At times you feel much internal pressure, for
you have two strong impulses which can be in conflict with one another.
The desire for independence and freedom, the need for self expression
and ego recognition, and an urge to leave the past behind in order to
propel yourself into new experiences may be at odds with other, equally
strong needs: attachments to people and to the familiar, a compelling
urge for emotional closeness and union, and a desire for security.
Balancing these two drives is a significant challenge for you.
Even though your life is less even and perhaps
less stable than others', most likely you would not change it, for you
are very alive, sensitive, and responsive to the ever-changing, dynamic
quality of life.

Fire and Water are Strong (F,E,A,W Scores = 17,4,13,15)
Chapter 2: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others
The following is a description of your basic
stance towards life, the way others see you, the way you come across,
the face you show to the world. In Chapter 3 you will read about the
"The Inner You: Your Real Motivation", which describes the kind of
person you are at heart and where your true priorities lie. Read this
chapter and the next one and compare them - there may be significant
differences between them, in which case "the inner you" may not shine
through and others are in for some surprises when they get to know you
at a more than superficial level. This chapter describes the costume
you wear, your role in life, while Chapter 3 talks about the real
person inside the costume.
You appear gentle and soft, and you act rather
reserved with others until you know them well and feel it is safe to be
open with them. You have a strong need for emotional security and a
sense of belonging, and are deeply attached to the past: your heritage,
roots, family, cherished friends, familiar places, etc. Making radical
changes or moves away from what is known and safe can be very painful
and difficult for you. You tend to cling and hold on to people,
memories, possessions of personal or sentimental significance. Having a
home, a safe haven, is very important to you.
You approach life emotionally and subjectively
and are sensitive to the emotional atmosphere, the subtle undercurrents
of feeling in and around you. Instinctive and nonrational, you are
often unable to give a clear, simple explanation for your actions.
Something FEELS right, or it doesn't.
Your emotions and personal loyalties tend to
color your thoughts and opinions. You view life from a very personal
perspective and often cannot mentally detach yourself from your own
personal bias and prejudices. You are apt to be concerned primarily
with how something affects you and those dear and close to you, rather
than with the principle or the broader social implications. For
instance, you may be very patriotic and feel that whatever "my country"
does is right without really knowing much about the other nation's
policies or point of view. Put simply: if it is good for me and mine,
it is good. If it is not good for me and mine, it is no good.
You are tenaciously loyal, protective, and
supportive of those you care about, and have a very strong nurturing,
motherly nature (regardless of your gender). You empathize with others
and intuitively sense the feelings and needs of other people.
Compassionate and sympathetic, you are easily moved by others' pain,
and you are often the one others seek out when they need comfort,
reassurance, or help.
Your moods fluctuate and change frequently and
you are sometimes open, sometimes withdrawn emotionally. You
communicate nonverbally and appreciate a person who can pick up subtle
cues and hints, rather than having to make everything explicit.
You never forget either kindness or unkindness shown to you.
You identify with the progressive, innovative
elements in society, and with being a rebel, reformer, nonconformist,
or iconoclast. You enjoy being original, unpredictable, and
spontaneous, and insist on doing whatever you wish regardless of
tradition, convention, or other people's wishes. Others see you as
"different" but interesting and exciting.
Despite the fact that your core self is
quite a bit different from the face the world generally sees, you have
a strong desire to be seen and recognized, to be acknowledged, and to
have a significant influence on people in your environment. You may do
remarkable things in order to be noticed. However, you often don't get
the full recognition you wish for.
You are likely to go your own way in life and
have a tendency to seclude yourself from others. Always preoccupied
with your own thoughts and ideas, you give other people the impression
that you don't want to be bothered with their problems.

Chapter 3: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation
Although you appear gentle and soft, and you
are sympathetic towards other people (as explained in the previous
chapter), you are also a "warrior". You sometimes feel torn between
these two aspects of yourself: the sensitive, tender-hearted,
home-loving side, and the assertive, competitive, risk-taking side.
Often people who first meet you think that you are a "softy", but later
find out that you are a person with a strong will and aggressive in
pursuing your goals.
You are a person who thrives on challenge, and
you often feel that you must battle your way through life, depending
upon no one and nothing but your own strength, intelligence, and
courage. You believe in being totally honest, true to oneself and one's
own vision and convictions, even if that means standing alone. Honesty,
integrity, personal honor, and authenticity are your gods, and you have
no sympathy for weakness of character in others.
You crave the freedom to do things in your own
way, and you work very well independently. Cooperating with others or
carrying out another's will is not your style. You like to be the chief
-or to go it alone.
You love action and if others are settling down
into a nice, comfortable little rut, then you are always ready to stir
things up, do something new, make changes, bring in some fresh blood.
Routine and sameness are like death to you. You are not afraid of
trying something that's never been done before, and even though you may
be seen as a fool sometimes, you also discover, invent, and initiate
things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following your
own star are the breath of life for you, and you wilt (or get very
frustrated and angry) if you cannot do this.
You are spontaneous, impulsive, direct,
enthusiastic, and assertive. You believe in the power of positive
thinking and positive action, and you think of yourself as a strong
person -even invincible. You hate being ill or in any way in a position
of dependency. Accepting your own human limitations and emotional needs
is often difficult for you.
You are basically aggressive in your attitudes
and have less facility in the receptive arts of relating to others,
picking up subtle messages and nuances, listening, nurturing, and
harmonizing. Often you are so fired up about your own projects or goals
that you inadvertently run over or ignore other people's feelings and
interests. Being receptive and appreciative of others' contributions,
ideas, and feelings would go a long way in improving your
relationships. Your impatience to get on with things causes you to be
rather insensitive, and to therefore alienate others unnecessarily. You
also frequently try to accomplish your ends by using anger or some
version of a temper tantrum. You would gain much by learning to slow
down, relax, and just let things be sometimes, but your energetic,
restless nature rarely allows you to do this.
Your career, reputation, and public image
are very important to you. You have a strong desire to be influential
or make your mark on the world. The merely personal sphere does not
satisfy you; your ambitions include making a major contribution and
receiving broad recognition for your unique effort and gifts. You may
undervalue the personal or inner side of life.
Your life is apt to be blessed with more
than your share of helpful friends, fortuitous connections, and doors
opening to you at just the right time. Because you are usually willing
to share and to give back to others in a generous way, you continue to
generate successes in your life no matter how unfortunate prevailing
circumstances are. Beware, however, of becoming an opportunist.
Impulsive, restless, and spontaneous, your life
is apt to be somewhat unstable and full of sudden changes. You are
extremely independent and crave excitement, adventure, freedom, and
discovery. You have a rebellious streak and often feel you are unusual
and different from the mainstream of society. The unorthodox and novel
appeal to you.
You have a deep belief in your own power and
your ability to survive any change and to emerge victoriously from any
difficulty. You have tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense,
strong willed, and zealous, you pursue your desires and goals with
complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and you may be somewhat
compulsive, even fanatical at times. You like to live intensely and
have no respect for people who are weak, who avoid confronting life and
their own destiny.
You tend to become excited and upset at the
slightest cause, generating tension with others. You also could
encounter strange experiences or coincidences with others. You may have
a feeling of being different than others and want to be your own person.
You love to entertain and like to cultivate
social contacts. You enjoy forming close personal ties with others and
most of them should be harmonious. You prefer teamwork rather than
separate efforts to realize your goals.

Chapter 4: Mental Interests and Abilities
You are more of a poet than a rational
scientist, for your mind does not function in a strictly logical,
linear fashion. The language of music, art, or poetry is natural to
you, and you are also able to think in highly abstract and symbolic
terms. Translating your thoughts and impressions into concrete,
everyday language may be difficult for you at times and consequently
you may appear less intelligent or at least less quick-witted and
verbal than others. This was especially true of you as a child, and you
probably daydreamed a good deal also. You are intuitive and are able to
sense what others' thoughts and feelings are, even before they say
anything to you. You often form an opinion about a person or situation
without much factual knowledge of them, and your impressions are
usually correct. You can be somewhat absent-minded and you become so
immersed in your own thoughts that you overlook things in your
immediate, tangible environment. You are extremely open-minded and
believe that anything is possible. Intangible or spiritual forces seem
just as real to you as anything in the concrete world. Your imagination
and your sympathetic understanding of other people are two of your
greatest gifts.
You have an unquenchable thirst for
knowledge and wisdom and for an ever broadening understanding of life.
You are the perpetual student and will be involved in higher education,
philosophy, or religion. Law, broadcasting, publishing, or the field of
communications are also areas that interest you. World travel and
studying other cultures are also strong urges of yours.
You are not interested in subjects that are
wholly abstract or technical. There must be a personal, human element
to evoke your interest. Your interest is people and their inner
motivations, feelings, personal lives, and experiences. You are a
natural listener with a talent for getting others to talk about their
lives, dreams, desires - the things that are personally meaningful to
them. You could also be an excellent writer, reporter, or biographer.
You have a particular interest in the past. You
are concerned either with personal history (childhood and early family
experiences, genealogy, etc.) or with the roots and origins of
societies (archeology, mythology, history, etc.).
You are nostalgic and love to hear others' life
stories and to discuss your own experiences and feelings. You like to
read biographies and memoirs, and probably keep a diary or journal
yourself. You also have the ability to be a successful public speaker.
You have an abundance of ideas, interests, and
plans for the future, and may find it difficult to focus on any
particular area. You are not a specialist for you seek to get the broad
overview, to see the whole picture rather than closely examining any of
its component parts. Philosophy, religion, or other areas of
theoretical speculation interest you.
You also possess foresight, numerous
enterprising ideas, and a gambling instinct, all of which contribute to
your success in the world of business. However, your optimism and grand
vision can get you in trouble too; you sometimes promise more than you
can deliver, gloss over important details that come back to haunt you
later, and overestimate the potential of an idea or product.
Traveling is a great love of yours, especially
if there is a mind-expanding or educational aspect involved, and you
may travel extensively in your work. Consulting or education would be
good fields for you.
Independent and freethinking, you dislike being
told what to do and how to do it, and you especially do not like being
told how to think, for you insist on discovering your own truth. You do
well in a rather unstructured environment that allows you to make your
own decisions and to respond to the needs of the moment, rather than
following a routine, standardized way of doing things. You are also
suited to a fast-paced atmosphere, which you find exciting and
stimulating. Your mind functions in an intuitive, nonlinear fashion and
sudden insights and flashes of inspiration often come to you "out of
the blue". You have an aptitude for science and new technologies
especially interest you. You also have a penchant for astrology or
other esoteric sciences.
Vague, confused thinking which can lead
to miscommunication and misunderstandings can be a problem for you, and
you have to work at being as clear, honest and unambiguous in your
dealings with others as you possibly can. You tend, also, to "go off
the deep end" regarding spiritual philosophies, imaginative ideas, or
theoretical speculation which may or may not have any real relevance or
validity. Try to critically test out your ideas, or seek out a person
whose judgment and character you respect, to use as a sounding board.
You have a probing, penetrating mind and
in your view, nothing is as simple, innocent, or straightforward as it
appears. You may not totally understand the hidden undercurrents you
perceive, the secret machinations, the dark underside of a person or
situation -- but it intrigues you and sometimes you can't stop thinking
about it. Once your interest has been piqued, you can become obsessed
with getting to the bottom of the matter. At times you make more of
something than is actually the case, like assigning dark, convoluted
motives to a person where none exist.
You may have to deal with considerable nervous
tension and are inclined to see everything a little cloudy. Expressing
what is on your mind could be hard for you, and you could either
intentionally or inadvertently deceive others, or vice versa.

Chapter 5: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance
You do not appear to be an intensely emotional
or sentimental person, and you are often unaware of your own or other
people's deeper feelings and emotional needs. Tears and tantrums
bewilder you and make you very uncomfortable. You would rather settle
differences by talking things out reasonably and rationally, but you
tend to ignore or poke fun at any attempt to probe your own or others'
inner depths.
You avoid heavy, demanding emotional involvement and are wary of making personal commitments.
You need plenty of mental stimulation and you
feel close to people with whom you can share thoughts and mental
interests. Conversation is very important to you. The strong, silent
type of partner is not for you.
Your own feelings and emotions are
something of an enigma to you, and it is often difficult for you to
share with others what you are feeling.
You frequently withdraw from contact with
the world, and need a healing, peaceful environment in order to blossom
and come out of yourself.
You identify with the oppressed,
disenfranchised or underdog in any situation and want to help them or
care for them in some way.
You take offense rather quickly and your
instincts are to fight, defend, or act first, and ask questions later.
Impatience, irritability and bursts of temper, especially in response
to minor frustrations, are rather common with you. When you are not
actively involved, you are not comfortable. You actually prefer a
rather rambunctious, feisty, competitive atmosphere to a peaceful one.
Although you are impetuous and easily provoked
(as mentioned above), you also have a good-natured, live-and-let-live
attitude and a sense of humor, which balances that. While hotheaded at
times, you are usually a good sport.
You are tolerant and forgiving, always ready to
overlook mistakes and give others a second chance. You expect the best
from people and draw it out of them, and you enjoy making others
comfortable and happy. Because of your emotional generosity, your life
is rich with friends, and often financial blessings as well.
Although you were portrayed above as being
assertive and combative, you have a diametrically opposed tendency as
well: The urge to escape all contention and ugliness. This may mellow
your fiery reactions somewhat, or you may seesaw between the two. Your
softer side is described in the following paragraphs.
The beauty and harmony of your surroundings has
a very powerful effect on your emotions. You are very sensitive and
cannot stand to be in an atmosphere where there is discord or
dissonance. Gentle, kindhearted, and peace-loving, you will give or
sacrifice much in order to avoid a fight and to "make everyone happy".
You have very deep feelings and profound
attachments to people you care about. Your relationship to your mother,
sisters, daughters, and other females in your life is apt to be
incredibly close and intense. You may be easily manipulated too, when
it comes to one of these important relationships, because you're so
emotionally invested in it.
In love, you are steadfast and loyal,
especially if you have a warm, demonstrative partner. You are very
sensually oriented and need lots of touching and physical affection.
You enjoy being pampered with a good meal, loving massage, or other
sensual delights. You are a wonderful lover, very attentive to the
comfort and enjoyment of the one you love. You are tremendously
responsive to beauty and physical appearances, and the physical
attractiveness of your partner is very important to you.
Promoting beauty, the arts, or
entertainment can make you very happy. You want to contribute something
positive and loving to the world at large and you want to be recognized
for your beauty, artistic gifts, or loving generosity. You may "marry"
your work - that is, be more involved in your career than in your
private life. You are a natural hostess or diplomat.
Feelings of loneliness, extreme shyness, and/or
fears of rejection plague you and may well inhibit you from expressing
warmth and affection in an open way. Denying yourself pleasure,
comfort, and "nice things" due to feeling unworthy can also limit the
joy you allow yourself. Heartache and a loss of love in your life,
perhaps while quite young, will serve to either close your heart to
love or to cause you to deeply cherish the friends and love you receive
from others. For you it is certainly true that "true love is hard to
find", but you will value it tremendously when it does come to your
life.
The feeling that "there is not enough for me"
may cause you to be very frugal and stingy with money as well.
You are considerate and compassionate and have
an innate understanding of the wants and needs of people in general.
You probably will have many pleasant and friendly relationships and
your attachment to others is likely to be very deep.
You seem to have an unusual power of attraction
to other people and frequently may associate with others whether they
are good for you or not. Very compulsive in love, you could have a kind
of tragic love union.

Chapter 6: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals
You are aspiring, enterprising, and forever
following some bright and distant star, planning some new venture or
investigating new potentials. You are definitely "upwardly mobile" in
either a material or spiritual sense (or both). You aim high and are
not content simply with a quiet, secure existence. You like to stretch
your limits, to see how far you can go, and to take risks. You are a
positive thinker, expect success for yourself, and are philosophical
about failures. You are flexible and bounce back from disappointment
rather quickly, usually with another hopeful new idea you want to try.
Your enthusiasm and confidence are contagious and enable you to enlist
the aid and support you need for your projects. However, you sometimes
promise more than you can actually achieve, because you are overly
optimistic or pay insufficient attention to the practicalities involved.
You also tend to get distracted and to have too
many things going at once. Although it is very difficult for you, there
are times when you simply must develop commitment, perseverance, and
persistence in order to make your dreams and goals a concrete reality.
Too often you fall short of what you could attain because you are
unwilling to persist through the difficult or less exciting times.
You also enjoy competition and usually do not
take it too seriously. Sports and entrepreneurial endeavors are good
ways to channel your energy.
You expect to work hard for anything you
accomplish and you have no patience for people who don't pull their own
weight. Work is a passion for you at times, and you push yourself too
hard. You can be too demanding of the people you work with also.
If your energy is not invested in a job
or career, you can become a fanatic about your health, and you may
exercise or "work out" vigorously and perhaps excessively.
Unlike some who have hopes and fantasies, you
are a person who tries to live out these dreams, no matter how
impractical or fantastic they seem. You have a quixotic, idealistic
streak. You may be more inspired to work for some higher cause than
simply for your own personal achievement.
Your nature tends to be very sensual and you
may irresistibly be attracted to someone, even if you know that he or
she is bad for you. You also have a tendency toward jealousy,
possessiveness and unwillingness to grant your partners freedom to be
themselves.
Innovation, discovery, originality,
experimentation, and opening up new channels of understanding are
important aspects of your life's work. Your ambitions in life, as well
as the way you achieve those goals, are unique or "alternative".
Concerned with future trends and the new, you're apt to be ahead of
your time in many respects.

Chapter 7: Growth and Expansion: Areas That You Enjoy
You have the ability to see connections
between seemingly unrelated ideas or worlds, and to bring them
together. You excel in any field requiring clear intellect, and verbal
and communication skills. You have an insatiable curiosity and may read
or watch television constantly in order to satisfy your need for mental
stimulation. Your mind never stops.
You are drawn to social work, the
ministry, giving your time and energy to charitable organizations, or
to serving and helping the disadvantaged in some way. Your generosity
and unselfishness will bring you and others much good.
You are very broad-minded and tolerant, and you
have a rich, colorful imagination. You do not struggle with life as
much as most people; you are inclined to follow the path of least
resistance.
Your willingness, even eagerness, to
embrace change and to undergo deep, transformative experiences for
growth and self-improvement is one of your finest attributes. You are
also likely to be an instrument for positive reform in the world. You
coordinate well with other people when you share a mission or higher
purpose.
You have the ability to go far and to establish
your position in life successfully. Chances are that success will be
more rapid than you anticipate. You are always planning ways to expand
your position and have a strong desire to acquire wealth.

Chapter 8: Areas That Challenge You Or Are Difficult For You
You both yearn for, and fear, being
emotionally vulnerable with others and experiencing deep emotional
intimacy. Trusting others and letting yourself be known in a deep way
doesn't come easily to you, and sexual inhibitions may result from
this. You are very self-protective and may be compulsively secretive.
Learning to relinquish control in personal relationships, and to be
completely open, are important tasks for you.
Your childhood or your relationship with
your parents was restrictive, unloving, or unhappy in ways that may
prevent you from allowing other people to get close to you in later
life. You felt deprived in some manner, whether or not you actually
were deprived in some way. Emotional separations or repression of your
needs and feelings may typify your early life, at least as you remember
it. Forgiving your parents and/or letting go of any resentments you
have about the limitations you experienced early in your life is
crucial. Also, you need to build your own solid foundation, and
investing time and energy into your home, domestic relationships, and
inner life can help you accomplish this.
You are likely to find it hard to make
decisions, looking forward to the future with great enthusiasm on one
hand, but afraid of misjudgments on the other. Never quite sure about
anything, you may withdraw from situations and people periodically.
Not very adaptable, you tend to be rebellious
and fight hard against oppression. This could even lead to violent
incidents, so try to take care. You may have to work extremely hard and
may have a lot of responsibilities that you cannot let go.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which
you instinctively and habitually revert to when under stress - a mostly
unconscious process and one which you are apt to overdo because it is
so familiar and thus easy for you. The direction you need to follow in
order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also
described.
You have a great capacity for sympathy,
tenderness, and caring, which is a gift that you are apt to overdo at
times. For balance, you need to develop mature self-discipline,
self-control, and personal responsibility.
When under stress, you have a strong instinct
to retreat back into the nest, to be a child again, or to become
overwhelmed with feelings and longings to be taken care of. Also, you
may encourage others to depend upon you emotionally (and otherwise) to
an unhealthy degree. You need to learn how to set limits and to turn
off the flow of support when necessary.
The arena you are most likely to wrestle with
these issues is in your marriage and other intimate, one-to-one
relationships. You may see the qualities you need to develop more fully
(described above) in your partner. It is important for you to
recognize, appreciate, and listen to the people in your life who
express such attributes, as well as developing them yourself. Put
energy and attention into learning about others, and about yourself
through others.
The specific habits which are likely to hold
you back, or which you are prone to overdo, especially during stressful
periods, include:
Going to extremes, willful rebelliousness and an instinctive
antiauthoritarian attitude, seeking constant (and often purposeless)
movement or change, involvement with unreliable people, and seeking
individual freedom at any cost.

Chapter 9: Originality and ImaginationAreas Where You Are Creative, Unique, Unstable, or Compulsive
You are an unconventional and innovative
person, and you are seen as a rebel, reformer, or highly unusual in
your manners, appearance, or attitudes. You enjoy being unpredictable,
and you do not conform to the standards that other people have set.
Above all, you are an individual, and you do what you please regardless
of customs and norms. Your environment and life circumstances may
change frequently and abruptly.
Your childhood and early home life were
colored by a great deal of confusion or by people with unusually active
imaginations, aspirations, or fantasies. It is difficult for you to see
your childhood and your relationship with your parents in a clear,
realistic light. You may search for the ideal, loving home you wish you
had, or believe you had, when you were a child. Finding inner peace and
a sense of emotional security within yourself is important to you.
You are likely to have a fixation on
money, wealth, and material resources. You may totally renounce
material desires and ownership, or become obsessed with having, owning,
and accumulating. Your attitudes towards owning, keeping, and sharing
will undergo major changes in your lifetime, and your fortunes are
likely to run very hot or very cold.
You tend to be set in your ways and it is not
very easy for you to compromise. There could be a hidden side to your
nature that makes you want to deceive others and perhaps even secretly
harm them, but could also backfire on you.
You could have a rather ruthless and
unscrupulous side to your personality that will do anything to destroy
opposition. You may be a fanatic in work and are capable of making
great efforts in order to achieve a lot, overtaxing your strength in
the process.
Your fantasies are inexhaustible and you have very
far-reaching ideas. You are inclined to make big plans that are way out
of your reach and impossible to follow through. You have to guard
against becoming involved with some ill-considered enterprises.

Chapter 10: Generational Influences: Your Age Group
In this chapter we will discuss characteristics
and traits of your generation. Of course, you may not share all of the
characteristics of your generation, but you are greatly affected by the
tone that is set by your generation.
The first topic is "The Subconscious and
Emotional Drive of Your Age Group". In this section we will describe a
deeply felt urge, even compulsion, of your age group. This deeply felt
drive comes to the surface with great force and power, and consequently
leaves in its wake considerable upheaval and change. The second topic
is "The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group", that describes the
dreams, fantasies, and spiritual aspirations of your age group. The
third and last topic is "What is New and Different in Your Age Group",
which describes areas in which your age group tends to be innovative,
inventive, unusual, and also where it may be unstable and unreliable.
The characteristics described below may affect
a group of people for anywhere from a few years to about 30 years.
There are one or more different astrological factors described in each
of the three sections below.
The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your Age Group
You are part of a 20 year period that is often
referred to as the "ME" generation, a generation that has a very proud
and self-reliant attitude. You are a generation that is very concerned
with self-development and personal integrity. Women's rights and
minority rights are issues that your generation has fostered and they
reflect your concern with individual respect, integrity, and honor.
Your age group has a deeply felt sense that each person has an equal
right and opportunity to fully develop his or her inner potential.
However, your group also finds it difficult to
be part of a team and a strong egotism makes group efforts difficult;
you tend to see the individual as more important than the group. You
also defy authority and often feel that no one has the right to tell
you what to do. The strong movement to refuse drafting into the
military is one example of your age group's strong sense of individual
rights and freedom.
Your age group has popularized the idea of
self-development, and has contributed a great deal to the development
of individual potential as well as human rights. However, there is also
a tendency to be rather self-centered; others may wonder how you can
spend so much time developing yourselves and have so little time to
contribute to your families!
The interest in personal development also
sometimes manifests as a fascination with particular individuals and a
great deal of hero worship. Every generation, of course, has lots of
idols, but your generation is particularly prone to needing a specific
individual to represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to serve as
a focal point of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is
the concept of the guru that was popularized by your age group.
The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group
You are part of a 14 year group of people who
have a very idealistic sense of brotherhood and universal cooperation,
which, among other things, fostered the peace and freedom movement.
Your age group is also interested in the spiritual philosophy and
ideals of other cultures, and is not at all dogmatic in its approach to
religion. You incorporate the approaches of other religions. Your age
group tends to have an eclectic approach to religion, utilizing
elements from many religious perspectives (e.g. Eastern and Western),
and finds it difficult to follow traditionally defined religious
practices.
A gullibility and an unwillingness to be
decisive and judgmental inclines your age group to be easily deceived,
and consequently many of the well-intended ideals and goals are
frustrated by a lack of clear purpose and direction.
The entire generation to which you belong
has tremendous opportunities for spiritual rebirth and awakening. This
will not be forced upon you or precipitated by unavoidable events,
rather it comes from an inner yearning and a natural propensity to seek
the depths.
What is New and Different in Your Age Group
You are part of a 7 year group of people who
have a strong need to feel unrestrained by family ties and personal
heritage. Your age group tends to find personal relationships very
restrictive, and also tends to feel alienated and distant from family
ties and concerns. Forming long-term personal relationships is
difficult for your age group, and divorce rates are high in your group.
However, you are an emotional and sensitive group also, and this
instability is painful at times. Finding personal freedom and closeness
with others at the same time is a big challenge for you.
